ADHD EFFECT ON INDIVIDUALS, MARRIAGE/FAMILY/PARENTING & CAREER

What is Executive Functioning Disorder (EFD)?
Does your life or the life of a family member feel out of control? Are you struck every day with the sense that you wish things could be different, but don't know where to start? EFD is a condition where an individual experiences difficulty with chronic disorganization which causes difficulty in work, relationships, family, and often finances. EFD would be defined as difficulty with planning, organization, and prioritizing (POP). Working with the individual and ideally with supportive but not enabling family, friends, and loved ones, change can happen. Are you "Ready for Change?" In addition to two Masters degrees in Counselling and Therapy, Tanya Hansen has a Children's Mental Health Certificate (specialing in EFD and ADD) from Mount Royal University and additional training in working together with families with EFD and ADD/ADHD. |
ADD/ADHD is a difficult condition both for the individual and those who love and care for them.
MARRIAGE Struggling in your marriage because you and/or your partner are experiencing the difficulties in living with ADD/ADHD? Do you feel like your lives are sometimes spinning out of control? There are definite strategies and lifestyle changes that can improve your situation. CHILDREN/PARENTING In many situations, the greatest counselling benefits for children are achieved when there is involvement of the parent or caregiver because changes and support can be more effective when what is learned in counselling is reinforced in the home environment as well. Goal-setting is an important part of the counselling process and it can be difficult to work towards goals outside of counselling if the child is not receiving support and follow-up at home. Of course, in situations where there is abuse or neglect, this would not be recommended and supportive individual counselling for the child may be the best option. WORK/CAREER Living with ADD can present challenges not so much in getting a job, but also with keeping a job. Chronic lateness, missing or late paperwork, and sometimes an inability to remain focused, can all contribute to job loss. For those who are entrepreneurs or self-employed, the concerns can be multiplied if bills are not paid, projects are not completed, and customers/clients are let down - especially when a family is relying on the income. |
We look forward to working together with you, and your family to put SOLUTIONS in place that will work.
